THEIR CULTURE, GEOGRAPHY, HISTORY, MUSIC AND DANCE. THIS SERIES CAN
CULMINATE WITH A SCHOOL PERFORMANCE. THE COUNTRIES CURRENTLY AVAILABLE

DANCE THROUGH TIME: THE FOLLOWING WORKSHOPS
ARE DESIGNED TO TAKE STUDENT ON A HISTORIC JOURNEY USING DANCE TO AUGMENT
CURRICULUM. THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE:
MIDDLE AGES: EUROPEAN PERIOD DANCES EMBELLISH
THE HISTORY, SCIENCE, HEROES AND EVERYDAY LIFE FROM 450 AD TO 1500 AD.
THE RENAISSANCE: EARLY FOLK DANCE FROM ITALY
AND OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES HELP STUDENTS GAIN A BETTER UNDERSTANDING
OF THE TIMES AND THE CHANGES FROM 1300 AD TO 1600 AD. .
NORTH AMERICAN DISCOVERERS: THIS WORKSHOP STUDIES
THREE GREAT DISCOVERERS; ERICKSON, BRENNAN AND COLUMBUS USING FOLK DANCES
FROM NORWAY , IRELAND AND SPAIN .
COLUMBUS : 500+ YEARS: THIS WORKSHOP STUDIES
THE LIFE OF COLUMBUS AND INCORPORATES COURT DANCING AND CLASSICAL SPANISH
MUSIC AND DANCE.
FOUNDING FATHERS:
THE MAYFLOWER VOYAGE: DISCUSSES THE VOYAGE OF
THE MAYFLOWER AND THE PILGRIM WAY OF LIFE IN THEIR NEW LAND. NATIVE
AMERICAN DANCES ARE USED IN THIS PROGRAM.
JAMESTOWN: STUDIES ONE OF AMERICA ’S FIRST
SETTLEMENTS AND HOW THIS NEW LAND TESTED THE EARLY SETTLERS. EUROPEAN
FORK DANCES AND NATIVE AMERICAN DANCES ARE INTEGRATED IN THIS UNIT.
VISION OF A COUNTRY: THIS WORKSHOP INTEGRATED
THE HISTORY, CUSTOMS, CULTURE, MANNERS, MUSIC AND DANCE FROM THE BEGINNING
OF OUR COUNTRY. IT IS POSSIBLE TO DO AN IN-DEPTH PERIOD STUDY AND ISOLATE
PRESIDENTS OR DEAL WITH HISTORICAL PERIODS OF WAR AND CONFLICTS. THIS
SERIES CAN CULMINATE WITH A SCHOOL PERFORMANCE.
AMERICANA WORKSHOP: THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROGRAM
IS TO COVER THE HISTORY OF DANCE AS IT HAS EVOLVED IN THIS COUNTRY.
THE PROGRAM IS DEDICATED TO AMERICAN MUSIC FROM 1900 ON AND THE DANCE
STYLES OF JAZZ, TAP, MODERN, THEATER AND MUSICAL COMEDY.
JAZZ PROGRESSION THROUGH TIME: THE OBJECTIVE
OF THIS WORKSHOP IS TO INTEGRATE OUR NATIONS AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY
WITH THE CHANGING MUSIC, MOOD AND MOVEMENT FROM THE DECADES 1860 TO
PRESENT DAY. THIS WORKSHOP CAN BE DONE IN ITS ENTIRETY OR BY INDIVIDUAL
TIME PERIODS.
INDIANS OF THE SOUTHWEST: THIS PROGRAM INTERWEAVES
NATIVE AMERICAN MYTHS, CUSTOMS, MUSIC AND MOVEMENT OF THE SOUTHWESTERN
TRIBES.
HAWAII: THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS WORKSHOP IS TO
MERGE HAWAII ’S HISTORY, MUSIC AND MOVEMENT FOR THE STUDENTS.
READ, WRITE AND MOVE: IS A LITERARY ARTS UNIT
WHICH USES THE BIO-POEM TO ACTIVATE THE MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES. STUDENTS
SELECT THEIR FOCUS, READ AND THEN CREATE A BIO-POEM WHICH IS SET IN
MOTION TO MUSIC.
SCIENCE - BASED WORKSHOPS:
MOVEMENT - THE BODY AND THE MIND: THE OBJECTIVE
OF THE HANDS ON WORKSHOP IS TO BUILD CONCENTRATION, FLEXIBILITY AND
LISTENING SKILLS.
EXERCISE AND FLEXIBILITY -- WHY?: THIS WORKSHOP
CREATES A MOVEMENT EXPERIENCES THAT DEALS WITH BODY SCIENCE, GENERAL
CO-ORDINATION, AND BODY CONTROL FOR YOUNG ATHLETES. SUBJECTS SUCH AS
NUTRITION, BONES, MUSCLES, AND BODY ORGANS ARE ADDRESSED TO CREATE A
BETTER BODY AWARENESS.
NEWTON - THE PHYSICS OF MOVEMENT: USING NEWTON
’S LAWS OF MOTION, THE STUDENTS WILL PHYSICALLY REINFORCE MOTION,
INERTIA, WEIGHT AND BALANCE.
REUSE AND RECYCLE: IS A HISTORICAL TO POP -
FUN WAY FOR STUDENTS TO CONSIDER THE CONCEPTS OF RECYCLING IN THEIR
LIVES. THE UNIT FIRST TEACHES THE VIRGINIA REEL, WHICH WAS PERFORMED
DURING THE COLONIAL PERIOD. THEN THE MUSIC AND MOOD HUMP TO THE 90S
AND THE STEPS TAKE A TOTALLY NEW LOOK.
CREEPING, CRAWLING CREATURES: THIS ELEMENTARY
UNIT IS PERFECT FOR THE SPRING. MOVEMENT AND POETRY WILL ENHANCE AN
INSECT UNIT AND REINFORCE A CHILD’S MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES.
HABITAT: HABITAT IS ANOTHER ELEMENTARY UNIT
THAT TEACHES THE SCIENCE OF THE NUMEROUS HABITATS AROUND PLANET EARTH.
SPECIFIC UNITS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE OCEAN, FOREST , DESERT, GRASS LANDS
AND RAINFOREST.
MAN’S RACE TO THE MOON: INCORPORATES THE
BASIC MOVEMENT SKILLS IN DANCE WITH MUSIC AND POETRY TO EXPAND THE STUDENTS
KNOWLEDGE OF THE MERCURY, GEMINI AND APOLLO MISSIONS.
OUR SOLAR SYSTEM: INCORPORATE THE BASIC MOVEMENT
SKILLS OF DANCE WITH MUSIC AND POETRY TO EXPAND THE STUDENTS BASIC KNOWLEDGE
OF THE SUN AND THE PLANETS.
MUSIC, MIME AND DANCE: IS A LIGHT HEARTED LECTURE/PERFORMANCE
FOR AN ENTIRE STUDENT BODY. THE PERFORMANCE SHOWS STUDENTS HOW MUSIC,
MIME AND DANCE MERGE IN THE CREATION OF A STORYBOOK BALLET.
